How Maca works and how it can help?
Maca root works by stimulating and nourishing the pituitary gland to help regulate the entire hormonal system, including the adrenal glands. In fact, a 2006 study in the International Journal of Biomedical Science stated that the effects of Maca led to “a significant decrease in blood cortisol levels in a short and long term trials”.
By helping the body produce hormones in the correct levels, Maca can combat mood swings and irritability caused by PMS. It helps to raise progesterone if it’s too low and down-regulate oestrogen if it’s too high (this type of imbalance is often the cause of menstrual symptoms).
